Bhimsen jatra

According to the Nepal Samvat, Sillathwa Dwadashi Tithi is known as Bhin Dwadashi of Bhima Dwadashi and there is a practice of worshiping Bhimsen (Bhin dyo). Bhimsen Jatra (festival) is celebrated by the Newar community in Patan, who believe Bhimsen is the god of wealth and business. This year the Jatra happens in the daytime on nepali month Magh (Feb 9, 2025) from Sundhara (Nuga: tole). On the day of Bhin Dwadashi, there is a custom to visit houses, temples and shops to perform grand pooja and eat typical food Samebaji as Prasad at home.

In August/September, as part of the celebrations, devotees also carry palanquins along with incense as a worship to the Lord as they pass the major city of Patan route.
